La historia de Bobby Darin se sustenta gracias a su pasión por la vida y por la música, a esa inquietud e ímpetu que le hicieron crecer de infante aquejado de fiebres reumáticas y complicaciones cardiacas a crooner experimentado, adorable sabelotodo que se desenvolvía con la fluidez de un docente en cualquier tipo de ambiente artístico. A finales de los años 50 se enfundó en un chispeante rock & roll adolescente, ‘Splish Splash’, al que siguieron otros sencillos de similares maneras. En la siguiente década pasó al estilo de Las Vegas, rozando el swing untado en jazz, para acabar convertido en poético cantautor pacifista.
Su concepto de la melodía sumado a la cadencia candorosa de su garganta para las baladas –‘Try To Remember’– o su rítmica en el swing corredor –‘It’s Today’– mutan a Darin en todoterreno de las tablas. Impensable para aquel muchacho al que su médico no le daba más de dieciséis años de vida. El 20 de diciembre de 1973, y cumplidos los 37, fallecía uno de los más grandes talentos que han dado los micrófonos de Norteamérica.
