Durante los primeros años de la década de los 70, formaciones respetuosas prendadas por el rock and roll primario, el rockabilly, al igual que la estética de los rockers, greasers y teddy boys, según al lado del océano que les pillase, reforzaron un revival olfateado desde las postrimerías del decenio anterior. Los norteamericanos Sha Na Na clavaron su pendón en el evento hippie por excelencia, un festival de Woodstock que en 1969 escuchaba a unos plateados chicos con tupé desgañitarse en melodiosa conjunción reproduciendo himnos de las jukebox cincuentas como el ‘At The Hop’ de Danny And The Juniors.
